The Vuk and Dositej Museum, located at 21 Gospodar Jevremova Street in Belgrade, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the history and cultural heritage of Serbia. Here you can learn about the lives and achievements of two legendary Serbian figures — Vuk Stefanović Karadžić and Dositej Obradović.
The museum's exhibitions highlight Karadžić's role as a reformer of the Serbian language and the creator of the Serbian literary language, as well as Obradović's achievements as an enlightener and the first Minister of Education of Serbia. Among the exhibits, you can find portraits, the first Serbian books, and personal belongings of Vuk Karadžić.
The museum is located in a significant historical building from the late 19th century, donated to the Kingdom of Serbia by Vuk's daughter, Mina Karadžić-Vukomanović. The Turkish room with sofas, which adds additional charm to the exhibition, is of particular interest.
Visitors can also participate in free history lectures, which are periodically held at the museum. Although all the information is presented in Serbian, the atmosphere of the establishment and its historical significance make a visit to the museum a must for anyone interested in the culture and history of Serbia.
