Did you know that on average one person buys almost 26 kg of clothing per year and throws away 11 kg? Of this amount, 87% is burned or ends up in landfills, and less than 1% is recycled. The 'Fast Fashion' model, in which clothing is produced and sold at particularly low prices, increasingly fuels rampant consumption. That’s why it’s so important to change our mindset and strive for longer use of clothing — and we want to do this together with you.
On Saturday, November 30, there will be a free clothing swap event at the library aimed at extending the life cycle of textiles and doing something beneficial for the environment, and incidentally for your wallet. In our jewelry renewal workshop, we will show you how to repair and refresh old jewelry or create something new from it. And because swapping is also fun, we extended it to books!
Come join us, give clothes you no longer wear or books you don’t read a new life, and bring along some old knitted fabric if you have any. In return, you might find genuine treasures for yourself.
