The novel Belgrade, which was released at the end of 2024, sparked much discussion and debate, was well-received by critics, and its first edition sold out instantly. But is Nadya Alexeyeva's Belgrade strictly considered emigrant prose? At the February book club, we will discuss how the fate of the writer intersects with the destiny of the heroine, how the image of contemporary Belgrade is interpreted, and the characteristic fears and misunderstandings of those who come here to live are depicted. We will discuss why Chekhov was given such a significant place in the novel and how he played the role of an 'imaginary friend' in the reality of Belgrade's emigration, the mystery of the book's ending, and who we are, detached from home and language, in anxiety, with a sense of guilt for everything? Serafima Orlova is a writer, playwright, and theatrical figure. She was shortlisted for the 'Lyceum' awards (2018, novella 'Tin Head', which was adapted into a film of the same name by QS Films in 2023) and 'Kniguru' (2018). Winner of the V.P. Krapivin Prize (2018). Participant in the Theatre 'Practice Lab' - 'Practice of the Post-Playwright' (2018-2019). Performances based on her plays have been staged and are being performed in Omsk, Samara, Moscow, and Belgrade.
