Oedipus is a tragedy created by Sophocles, one of the most prominent authors of ancient Greek dramaturgy alongside Aeschylus and Euripides. Out of over 130 of his works, only a few have been preserved, including Ajax, Antigone, Oedipus Rex, Electra, The Women of Trachis, Philoctetes, and Oedipus at Colonus. Among all of them, Oedipus Rex stands out as the most recognizable tragedy since ancient times. Aristotle, in his "Poetics," rated this tragedy as a perfect example of a dramatic work.
