Murder on the Orient Express

In the thirties of the last century. The elegant train, the Orient Express, is stopped due to heavy snow. A crime occurs on it, and what was supposed to be a peaceful return home for Poirot turns into another case requiring resolution. The carriage is full of suspects, each with allegedly solid alibis. Poirot starts his adventure in Istanbul, and the rest of the mystery unfolds in Yugoslavia, between Vinkovci and Brod. Out of the total of 60 detective novels written by Agatha Christie, 33 investigations are led by the Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. 'Murder on the Orient Express' is considered her most famous work. This theatrical adaptation was realized by Ken Ludwig, a well-known contemporary playwright, who is well known to our audience thanks to hit productions such as 'Lend Me a Tenor' and 'Moon over Buffalo.' Ken Ludwig has drawn a humorous tone from Agatha Christie's mysterious story. As Northrop Frye noted the similarities between mystery and comedy, where both genres start from a normal situation that gets disrupted, with characters trying to restore balance, it is exactly these kinds of comedic and 'exaggerated' characters created by Agatha Christie.
