Love Story

"Love Story" by Puriša Đorđević is a humorous-tragic tale about the life of a Yugoslav diplomat in the 1960s. He faces a dilemma when he discovers that his sexual orientation could be used against him, which might force him to betray his country. Due to his refusal to take on the role of advisor in Washington, he loses everything: party membership, his ministry job, his social status, and his romantic relationship. State security sends him to a rural school, where as a teacher he discovers the fascinating world of students, pastoral rituals, and artistically gifted girls from the village.
