THREE SISTERS

This is a classic work of Russian literature, drama, and culture - "Three Sisters" by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, first performed under the direction of Ljubiša Ristić in the special atmosphere of New Year's Eve. The story of three sisters who dream of Moscow and the officers who leave them, going to the front, symbolizes the eternal theme in both Chekhov's and Russian literature. In KPGT, each act of the play depicts a different era:

• The first act sets the action in 1901, adorned with the vaudeville of Tsarist Russia.
• The second act, set in 1921, brings the chaos of the Civil War, with characters under masks.
• The third act reflects the atmosphere of the fire during the Nazi attack on the Soviet Union in 1941.
• In the fourth act, military officers leave the city, and the sisters go to Ukraine in 2022, with farewells happening via social networks.

What does the fifth act bring? It remains uncertain, as Chekhov did not write it. Just as "Hamlet" is a universal part of world theater, and "A Suspicious Face" is part of ours, so "Three Sisters" is Chekhov's universal guide for understanding the life, fate, and myth of Russia.
