PORTRAIT OF A WOULD-BE GERMAN LANGUAGE PROFESSOR
This comedy takes you through a range of emotions and unexpected twists, following the destinies of its characters. With much laughter and surprises, it draws you into a world where all the problems of everyday life will be forgotten for a moment. The central characters, Mikan — a painter and Stevka — an intelligent, but not yet graduated student, reveal the story of two people facing life's challenges. While Mikan is followed by poverty and an internal struggle with artistic ideals, Stevka's search for stability encounters his imperfections. Cheerful and straightforward, Stevka amazes us with her spirit, but surprises us when she confronts truth and life’s sorrow.
Director's Statement:
"In a time when our characters are increasingly divided, and a smile becomes a matter of courtesy, this play reflects the reality of us all. It reflects the difficult life we did not choose, but must live. This is a portrait of facing one's flaws and virtues, providing laughter and encouragement to improve." - Luka Pavlović
