Tabula Rasa — a journey into the world of contemporary academic music with works by Alfred Schnittke, Arvo Pärt, and Sofia Gubaidulina
The Belgrade Youth Center will host Tabula Rasa — a unique event showcasing 20th and 21st-century academic music through the works of outstanding contemporary composers.
Tabula Rasa is an interdisciplinary project with a unique narrative structure, where specially designed lighting becomes an integral part of the program. The project features the Muzikon Orchestra, pianist and program author Marina Khudyakova, as well as violinist Mikhail Andrushchenko, a regular member of Teodor Currentzis's musicAeterna Orchestra.
The program includes five musical pieces unified into a single storyline. Among them are works by Alfred Schnittke, the legendary Soviet composer and living classic; Arvo Pärt, one of the most renowned geniuses of our time; and the outstanding female composer Sofia Gubaidulina, arranged for piano and string orchestra. Some of these works will be performed in Serbia for the first time.
The event organizers aim to present academic music in a new, modern light, making it accessible and appealing to a wide audience, offering guests an exciting journey into the world of academic art.
