Don Juan - original French musical
From the creators of the cult musical "Notre Dame de Paris" comes another masterpiece - "Don Juan". The music and libretto for this work were composed by the famous French author Felix Gray in 2003. This version offers a free interpretation of the classic story, which begins similarly to Moliere's, but further develops its own narrative. The author wanted to create a story that is not dependent on time, thereby standing out beyond contemporary boundaries.
"Don Juan" is enriched with combat scenes and special effects that emphasize its fantastic note. The choreography, inspired by Spanish dances and flamenco, adds additional depth to the performance. The musical achieved huge success in France and South Korea, while in Canada it received exceptional recognition with 200 performances and 350,000 spectators in several cities. Additionally, 300,000 albums with music from the musical were sold. The songs "Du plaisir" and "Les Femmes" reached high positions on Canadian charts for weeks. The direction was led by the award-winning Gilles Maheu, while producers Charles and Nicolas Talar are known as leading independent producers. The show achieved record ticket and album sales.
