Guide to Serbian Winter Traditions

👋 Greetings to everyone who missed the presentation of Momo Kapor's “Guide to the Serbian Mentality”!

We begin the year with a discussion about the main Belgrade writer with the translators of his books, Anna Rostokina (“Once in Serbia”) and Victoria Martynova (“Serbia News”) at the Lecture Hall of Intellectum Academy.

❄️ This meeting is a special "winter edition" where we will read Kapor's texts about Serbian traditions, discuss New Year and Christmas customs — and even practice some of them ourselves.

Bátnyak, chésnica, polozhajnik, zhito, kólach — what are these?

How did Serbia distinguish between the holiday pedestal of New Year and Christmas?

“Russian salad” and “Olivier” — relatives separated in childhood — their similarities and differences

What other winter dates are important to Serbs and why?

Anna and Victoria have lived in Serbia for over 10 years, reading and translating Momo Kapor's texts for just as long. They will share their knowledge of Serbian culture and tell interesting and amusing stories from their Serbian families' lives.

💫  Additionally, all participants of the meeting will receive a surprise from the translators.
