Vampires... Heroes, or more precisely, anti-heroes of numerous myths and legends from all over the world. In the lecture, we'll discuss them through the lens of cinema.
Arguably, no other kind of supernatural being can boast such popularity in modern popular culture, primarily in films. First appearing on screens more than 100 years ago, they still have not lost the audience's affection, although their image has noticeably changed over time: today, vampires are less frequently depicted as bloodthirsty monsters, often being given the roles of romantic heroes or dramatic characters.
In the lecture you will learn:
🧛 Why does the cinematic image of blood-sucking creatures remain appealing over the years?
🧛 How can you make 70 films about just one Count Dracula and not bore the audience?
🧛 And many various little-known facts and paradoxes about the Children of the Night.
