Lecture + video watching.
We invite you to discover Serbia from another unusual perspective. What can advertising tell us about the culture, art, and national traditions of the country we live in?
Meeting plans:
📺 We'll watch different videos - funny, serious, cringeworthy.
📺 We'll learn new details about celebrating Slava, organizing a wedding, Serbian family, relationships with neighbors, and superstitions.
📺 We'll compare ads of the same products in Serbia and Russia, draw parallels, find differences and try to understand why this is the case.
📺 We may even remember a dozen phrases that will come in handy to blend in with the local company.
📺 And finally, we'll get the answer to the question - what is the Serbian dream?
Hosted by:
Elena Stojic - born and raised in Belgrade, graduated from the local University, and later completed a master's degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication in St. Petersburg. Defended a thesis on comparative analysis of advertising in Russia, Serbia, and the USA.
The meeting language is Russian.
The videos will be in Serbian, but Elena will help with the translation.
