BUDAPEST ROMANI SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA 100 VIOLINS
The Budapest Romani Symphony Orchestra, known as "One Hundred Gypsy Violins", is preparing for an evening concert that will provide an unforgettable experience for music lovers. This unique formation has existed for more than three decades, formed as a classical symphony orchestra.
The orchestra has as many as 138 musicians and stands out with numerous prestigious awards, including the Hungarian Heritage Award and the title of Hungaricum. In the year 2000, they were entered into the Guinness Book of Records, further attesting to their excellence.
Their repertoire includes classical works by great composers such as Liszt, Bartók, Kodály, as well as traditional Hungarian Romani music, folk melodies, and songs. So far, they have had over a thousand performances worldwide, including the opening of the World Expo in Lisbon and numerous concerts at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. They have performed in different parts of the world including Africa, America, Asia, and Australia.
The orchestra has released 21 CDs and 5 DVDs, 8 of which achieved platinum status and 14 gold status. They are dedicated to preserving tradition through their junior ensemble, which brings together 25 young musicians.
