YELLOWJACKETS COMING TO BELGRADE BRINGING FASCINATING JAZZ
The famous jazz fusion ensemble Yellowjackets is preparing to dominate the Belgrade scene with their incredible music arrangements. Their combination of fine funk and R&B with dynamic bop and fusion offers the audience a unique experience.
During their long career, which spans over four decades, they have recorded 25 albums and won audiences worldwide. They have won two Grammy awards in the categories of Best Jazz Fusion Performance and Best R&B Instrumental Performance.
Yellowjackets were formed in the late 70s, and their first album marked the year 1980. The current lineup includes Russell Ferrante (keyboards), Bob Mintzer (wind instruments), Will Kennedy (drums), and Dane Alderson (bass guitar). Their music has always been at a high level, despite numerous member changes over the years. A special place is held by Dane Alderson, who has brought new energy and youthful spirit to the band.
Their latest album, Parallel Motion, released in 2023, is yet another proof of their ability to evolve, and it was nominated for a Grammy for Best Instrumental Jazz Album.
Bob Mintzer declared: "Our band is not prone to stagnation. We are all masters of reinvention and ready for every musical challenge."
An interesting fact about their name - the name "Yellowjackets" came up from a list of names during their first demo recording. Although it may not have had deep significance, it sounded energetic and remarkable - just like their style.
