Tamikrest

Tamikrest, a Tuareg musical collective known for its unique fusion of traditional African sound and modern rock elements, returns to the Belgrade scene. The band was formed in 2006 with members from various places like Mali, Algeria, and France. Their musical adventure began under the auspices of the school Les enfants de l'Adrar in a small desert oasis. Their creation carries a deeply emotional charge, infused with the sounds of traditional Kel Tamashek music and influences from global music icons such as Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Inspired by the events of their youth, the band members draw attention to the life of the Tuareg, linking culture and language in music that connects all lovers of rock and 'desert-blues' sound. Collaboration with the American-Australian band Dirtmusic at the Sahara festival in 2008 secured Tamikrest international attention. Their first releases were created in the studios of Bamako, while European tours and festival performances contributed to their global recognition. Thanks to these sonic bridges, Tamikrest successfully conveys the rich poetry and culture of the Tuareg to the wider world.
