The play IMAGES OF SAD EXPERIENCES by Dean Leskovar, which lasts 120 minutes, has elicited various reactions on theater stages. Our critique often labels performances that illuminate universal phenomena as non-dramatic situations. Particularly controversial is the third act of this award-winning drama (Gavella '80, Sterija '81), while the first two acts, which quickly gained popularity, are generally accepted. The first act takes place in 1924, the second in 1943, while the third act sparks debates due to the events of 1977 and because, according to some critics, it is the reason for the existence of the entire trilogy.

There have been suggestions to remove the third act, while some defenders of dramatic art evaluate it more leniently, acknowledging its connection to dramas such as A STONE FOR A PILLOW, LIBERATION OF SKOPJE, and ANT COLONY. Although these dramas advocate different theatrical approaches, Dean managed to present a unique reflection on the reception of the mentioned works by the public.
