Astronomers have been working on detecting and studying signs of extraterrestrial life on the planets of the Solar System for many years. Today, their search area has significantly expanded, as thousands of planets have been discovered around nearby stars, and some of them share similarities with Earth. The question arises, can we detect signs of life on these planets? And if this life is intelligent, it might tell us about itself. Over years of research, various methods of communication with extraterrestrials have been invented. For many years, the primary hope for establishing contact with aliens was centered around the use of radio, but today other methods have also been developed. During the lecture, modern possibilities for such communication will be discussed, anticipated language barriers, as well as the most famous messages that have already been sent and received. The lecture will be hosted by Vladimir Surdin, candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior researcher at the P. K. Shternberg State Astronomical Institute, associate professor of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University, and laureate of the Belyaev Prize and the Enlightener Prize. After the lecture, the audience will have the opportunity to ask Vladimir Surdin questions they are interested in.
