This is an exciting journey into the world of astronomy led by Vladimir Surdin, a candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior research associate at the P.K. Sternberg State Astronomical Institute, associate professor of the Faculty of Physics at Moscow State University, and laureate of the Belyaev Prize and the Enlightener Prize. During the lecture, he will discuss the following questions: how black holes are born, how to see them, can they reflect light or glow, what is the shadow of a black hole, where have astronomers found black holes, and how do they convey their existence to us. Vladimir is also a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Commission on Combating Pseudoscience and the chairman of the section 'Promotion and Popularization of Astronomy' of the RAS Scientific Council on Astronomy.
