Igor Moiseyev's National Ensemble, known as the "Igor Moiseyev Ballet", represents an exceptional blend of classical ballet and folklore, which will be presented in Belgrade as part of the "World Games" program. This tour provides a unique opportunity to enjoy the art that has shaped a new genre in choreography since its inception in 1937.
Founder Igor Moiseyev, a revolutionary choreographer of the 20th century, created the first professional folk dance ensemble in the world, becoming a cultural bridge between Russia and various continents. Here are just some of the regions they have visited:
Igor Moiseyev Ballet has performed in over 70 countries, including the USA and Italy, and often returned with dozens of tours. This ensemble, characterized by the language of dance, has been awarded many accolades, including the title "Academic" and the Order of Friendship of Peoples. Additionally, UNESCO awarded the ensemble a medal for its contribution to the development of folk dances.
Igor Moiseyev saw stage folk dance as a plastic portrait of a nation, a poetic and poetically expressive form, which revives the richness of cultural heritage. The ensemble's repertoire includes choreographic scenes and ballet miniatures to the music of great Russian composers such as Glinka, Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, and Mussorgsky. Today, the ensemble is led by the talented Elena Shcherbakova, a student of Igor Moiseyev and a former soloist, who continues his artistic vision.
