After the first exhibition in the "Atrium" area of the Belgrade City Library gallery, on Friday, September 26 in the Hall of the National Museum Zrenjanin, starting at 7 p.m., the exhibition "ANIMALIA et POPULUS - animals and people - coexistence evidenced by the archaeological record" will be officially opened.

On the occasion of the Year of Archeology 2025, the exhibition was organized with the aim of presenting to the general and expert public archaeological material that shows a diverse fauna, i.e. objects with animal motifs depicted faithfully or stylized, in different forms (dishes, terracotta, jewelry, money, mosaics...), materials (clay, stone, bone, amber, metal...) and which were used over a long period of time, from the Mesolithic to the late Middle Ages. Archaeological findings provide us with evidence on the basis of which, in our area, we can trace animal motifs in material culture from the prehistoric Mesolithic period, from which the particularly significant find of the first monumental fish-like sculpture, discovered within the Lepenski Vir culture in the Đerdap Gorge, originates.

The exhibition is the result of the cooperation of several museum and scientific institutions in Serbia, as well as numerous experts. The author and creator of the exhibition is Divna Gačić.
