Der Dokumentarfilm "Die Braut"

Героини фильма – женщины из южнорусской семьи: две сестры, их мать и бабушка. Летом младшие приезжают к старшим погостить, а на деле вернуться к корням и сдаться в плен традиционному укладу. Мир этого дома глубоко матриархален. Мужчины в нем присутствуют, но на вторых ролях. Пространство фильма наполнено магическими действиями: женщины гадают, собирают травы на лугу, моются в бане. Сакральное здесь – изнанка обыденного. Дочери повторяют сценарий жизни матери, которая когда-то тоже следовала за старшими женщинами рода.

The protagonists of the film are women from a southern Russian family: two sisters, their mother, and their grandmother. In the summer, the younger women come to visit the older ones—though in reality, they return to their roots and surrender themselves to a traditional way of life. The world of this household is profoundly matriarchal. Men are present, but only in secondary roles.The film’s space is filled with magical practices: the women tell fortunes, gather herbs in the meadow, and bathe in the banya. The sacred here is the reverse side of the everyday. The daughters repeat the life script of their mother, who once also followed the elder women of the family.
